How to Install a Wired Doorbell

We found a great video that demonstrates how to install a wired doorbell. Please note, 1800doorbell.com did not produce this video and is not responsible for its content.

A wired doorbell installation uses three main pieces: the button, the chime, and a low-voltage transformer. The transformer steps household voltage down to doorbell-safe low voltage.

Basic Installation Flow

  1. Turn off power before working with the transformer or wiring.
  2. Mount the transformer, chime, and button in the planned locations.
  3. Run low-voltage wire between the transformer, button, and chime terminals.
  4. Restore power and test the button, chime, and sound output.
