A wired doorbell installation uses three main pieces: the button, the chime, and a low-voltage transformer. The transformer steps household voltage down to doorbell-safe low voltage.
Basic Installation Flow
- Turn off power before working with the transformer or wiring.
- Mount the transformer, chime, and button in the planned locations.
- Run low-voltage wire between the transformer, button, and chime terminals.
- Restore power and test the button, chime, and sound output.
